History

I've always thought that since mankind has been around for such a long time how could I ever do something original? How can I know that any single thought that I have ever had was unique to me? I've realized that such things do not matter. It's what you do now. Not what could have been done or what should have been done. The concept of history is something we study as a map to what we can expect. So what can we expect of the times that we now live in?
We can expect that we will overcome the challenges of today. Our father, mothers, sisters and brothers have worked too hard to make this country what it is and we owe our children everything that this country should be. Of course it is always easier said than done but we have always responded to the most dire times with both ingenuity and action.
When we look to the future and wonder what to expect all we have to do is look to history.

Left Lean

America's new favorite direction is........................(drum roll please) The Left! America is undergoing a political re-centering not only because of the failed Bush presidency but rather the coming of age of America's youth. The youth is much more remarkably left leaning than any other age group and will throw their significant weight behind the progressives. The Obama campaign has done something for the voting youth that other campaigns have never done. It has given them a purpose and made them feel accomplished in knowing that they elected a president sympathetic with them. The Golden Age of Liberalism can only flourish if we tackle the notion that government is innately evil. We must remember that the government derives its power from us, the people. The government is supposed to take care of us and if in your opinion it doesn't then do something about it. That is our civic duty, the government functions for both our interests and our well being. Let government do its job and if its not then let us do ours.

Hope

Throughout the campaign President-Elect Obama was constantly criticized for his lofty rhetoric but I blog today to ask this question, What's wrong with inspiration? What's wrong with believing in something? What's wrong in hoping for a better future? Work without vision is useless work and hope is not blind idealism. "Hope is more than the sunny view that everything will turn out right; it is believing you have the will and the way to accomplish your goals." Regardless of race, political affiliation and dispositions we all tell our children, the future leaders of the world, that they can dream as big as they want. But when a five year old wants to be President what do you think fuels his dream? Hope, is the answer. The greatest of leaders have used words in ways that have changed the course of history. Abraham Lincoln, Franklin Delano Roosevelt, Martin Luther King Jr., Thomas Jefferson, John Fitzgerald Kennedy and Barack Hussein Obama have all used words to change perceptions of a people, of a nation. They have used words to bring the world to their vantage points and ultimately to the next step on the journey of this nation. History shows who were right and who were wrong. I ask only one question, which do you want to be?

The Next 4 Years

Now that Obama has won what is there to do now? For us Obamaniacs what is there to do to feed our Obama fixation? I'll tell you. Working with our new President. We must volunteer and support our President when we think he is right and voice our opinions when we think he is wrong. Nobody can win any election alone but just because we put him on the world stage does not mean our jobs are over. American citizens of all colors, creeds, ideologies and political affiliations have an obligation to help their country by trying to make it better. Whether you help the President or tell him your dissenting opinion, by speaking up you are helping your country.
